    Brief Bio

    Originally from Indiana, Jeremiah Benham began playing the guitar at age 11. His first teachers were his father and uncle who showed him how to play classic rock songs.

    While in High School he studied music theory and jazz improvisation. He also began guitar lessons with David Long who taught him a mixture of classic rock, country, and finger picking. After a year, his studies continued with a new teacher who introduced him to classical guitar technique.

    As a recipient of the DePaul Performing Scholarship, Mr. Benham holds both bachelors and masters degrees in Guitar Performance from DePaul University. While at DePaul, he took additional coursework in composition, sound recording, jazz guitar and electronic music.

    Mr. Benham has been invited to perform for such prestigious organizations as the Chicago Bar Association, Make a Wish Foundation, ChildServ, Children's Memorial Hospital, the Chicago Art Institute, and the Van Stratan Gallery.

    Mr. Benham is currently on the faculty at DePaul University in the Community Music Division and at the Sherwood Conservatory of Music at Columbia College teaching guitar lessons to both youth and adults. He holds certification in Suzuki method of guitar.

    When not performing or teaching, Mr. Benham enjoys composing music, sound recording and computers. He is an avid advocate of Linux operating system.
